Applications

Applications for 2010 admission will be made available on May 1, 2009. The deadlines for receipt of the application and supporting documents are as follows:

Admissions Requirements:1 

  1. Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university (or Canadian equivalent)
  2. An official transcript from each college or university attended
  3. Minimum 3.0 GPA in last 60 hours of coursework
  4. Completion of specific prerequisite coursework with a minimum of 3.0 GPA
  5. A completed application  APPLY ONLINE - my.hsc.unt.edu
  6. Two letters of professional reference. A letter from a practicing physical therapist is highly recommended.

    Letters of recommendation should be mailed to the admissions office, the address is:

  7. Admissions interview is required.

Meeting the prerequisite requirements generally calls for completion of courses designed for science majors; courses offered for non-science majors do not typically satisfy the prerequisite requirements of biology, chemistry and physics.

1Note: Admissions requirements are subject to change with notice.

*This includes courses in General Biology, Zoology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Ecology, Immunology, Parasitology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Pathophysiology. Biology courses should cover the cellular and molecular aspects, and the structure and function of living organisms.

Strongly recommended courses (these courses are not required for admission but may contribute to success in physical therapy education):

  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Biomechanics
  • Exercise physiology
  • Statistics
  • Medical terminology

Transfer Policy:

The DPT Program does not admit transfer students from other physical therapy programs.

Foreign Coursework:

The program will not accept coursework obtained at foreign institutions.
