Admissions Information

Applications for 2012 admission will be made available on May 1, 2011. The deadlines for receipt of the application, supporting documents and application fee are as follows:

Admissions Requirements

  1. Bachelor's Degree from a regionally-accredited U.S. college or university
  2. An official transcript from every college or university ever attended
  3. Minimum 3.0 GPA in last 60 hours of coursework
  4. Completion of specific prerequisite coursework with a minimum of 3.0 GPA
  5. A completed online application
  6. Two letters of professional reference
  7. Non-refundable $35 application fee, payable by check or money order issued to UNT Health Science Center
  8. Admissions Interview (by invitation)

    Letters of recommendation as well as transcripts should be mailed to the Office of Admissions directly from each source. Letters of recommendation must be composed on official letterhead, signed, and sealed in an envelope with the author's signature across the back seal. Unsealed or opened letters will not be accepted. Transcripts and recommendation letters are not accepted by fax or e-mail.

Physics (with lab) 8

Non-science major coursework does not typically satisfy mandated requirements for biology, chemistry, and physics.

Biology courses include General Biology, Zoology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Ecology, Immunology, Parasitology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Pathophysiology. Biology courses should cover the cellular and molecular aspects, and the structure and function of living organisms.

Strongly Recommended Courses

These courses are not required for admission but may contribute to success in physical therapy education:

  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Biomechanics
  • Exercise physiology
  • Statistics
  • Medical terminology

 

Transfer Policy

The DPT Program does not admit transfer students from other physical therapy programs. 

Foreign Coursework

The program will not accept course work obtained at foreign institutions.
