Steering Committee and Work Groups

     The School's permanent Planning & Evaluation Committee (PEC) will act as the planning organization for the self-study process and is chaired by the self-study director, Dr. Tim Strawderman. As a committee of the school that has all departments and the Public Health Student Association represented, it is a logical place to locate this responsibility. The Steering Committee will be comprised of the PEC along with the chairs of each of the four workgroups. The workgroups, then, will report to the Steering Committee through their chairs.

     These workgroups are organized by the four categories of criteria delineated by CEPH: School of Public Health (e.g., Mission, Resources, etc.); Instructional Programs; Creation, Application and Advancement of Knowledge; and, Faculty Staff and Students. Membership of these workgroups is comprised primarily of tenured or non-tenure track faculty and professional staff, though some tenure-track faculty are included because of their critical content knowledge and familiarity.

     In the initial phases of the self-study, it is expected that each of these workgroups will operate independently, with the chair of each workgroup managing the workloads and assigning duties amongst members. Necessary coordination among the workgroups will occur through the workgroup chairs and the Steering Committee. As each workgroup concludes its work, the self-study will be forwarded to the Steering Committee and then Executive Council for subsequent approval, review and analysis. Additional reviews will be made by the Health Science Center leadership before final adoption by the Dean.      This website and the staff supporting the technical aspects of the site will form the other key partners in this process. Their support will ensure that the self-study process will flow as has been outlined here, and that the final document meets the needs of CEPH.
